A little slow

I'm a little slow on the picture uptake this week.

Ported and polished throttle body:

Then I powdercoated them, along with the front calipers:

Changes in plans

Well over the lastr couple days, I have decided not to paint the Corrado this time around. There is jsut too much I want to do to the body, as well as alot of prep and money, of which I don't have. I think i'll be happy jsut driving the dang thing again. Then this winter, perhaps I will pull the motor back out and take my time getting the body ready for paint.

I ported my throttle body last night. That was some nerve-racking work. I've never ported anything, so it was a learning expereience. Plus, if I goof it up too much, I have a spare to use. Hurray!!

Engine's Done!

Well, OK, it's not completely done, but it's close. All I have to do to the engine yet is port the intake, throttle body, and supercharger. I need the tools to do that, which I don't have yet. They are on their way.

Next up is the engine bay cleaning then painting. Then putting the engine in, while getting the body pieces together and getting the body ready to paint....ugh. I am in over my head here.

And where in the sam hell do all these wires go???

Corrado Redux

It's been awhile since I've had much of a chance to work on the VDub, But this last week I have been on it pretty much non-stop.

Starting to see real progress is exciting me, but it's still far from being done.

House and Home

Yesterday we got word that a house we put an offer on was accepted! Finally, the wait is over! Pretty much.

Our landlords have asked us to be out fo the house by Aug 31st. We found this out last wednesday. Friday, we looked at yet another house, and we liked it. The Realitor drew up the papers, and we signed them on Monday. They accepted the offer on Tuesday.

The date of possession is Sept 4th. I've already talked to the landlords, and they don;t have a problem with extending us a few days.

So now it's all about the inspections. We are going with an FHA loan, and we already know of some things that will need to be done to pass an FHA inspection. But nothing major we hope.

And HERE is the future Page Residence

Raccoon Lake

Excellent weekend of fun and camping. It rained a little but Sat night, but everyone was in bed by the time it started. And it was done by the time we got up.

Let's see if I can round up some statistics for ya:

*Looked for 11 geocaches, found 8
*Introduced two people to geocashing
*Christina lost a $400 digital camera while we were climbing rocks
*I led my friends on a half mile hike through weeds almost as tall as me, when there was a parking lot and a mowed path available (they were less than happy)
*Saw the clearest view of the Milky Way I've seen in years
*Saw 7 satellites
*Saw 5 shooting stars
*Caught zero fish
*Had a million nibbles though
*No mosquito bites
*Pulled off two ticks though
*We think Christina got poision ivy

Geocaching and other news

If you didn't think I could fall into the world of Dorktom any more, you were wrong.

A few weeks ago, while camping at Shades State Park, our friends John and Jessie introduced us to geocaching. It's basically a treasure hunt game using a GPS. Although what we found was a virtual geocache, the idea was still there. We decided this would be something fun to do while camping, as a lot of geocaching involves hiking. And since we like to hike when we are camping, well they go well together. So I took the money I made from working the fireworks stand and bought a Garman eTrex Vista Cx GPS unit. Since I got it on Wednesday, we have found 8 geocaches in our area. And there are a TON more. I also have 11 already programmed for this weekends camping trip to Raccoon Lake. We also figure the GPS unit will come in handy when we travel to Gatlinburg next month for Chris and Stephanie's wedding. So far I have used the GPS a lot. It is great ad finding directions, can be used as a compass, and while on the road, it can show us nearby restaurants, hotels, gas, and even ATM machines. It's relatively easy to use, and so far, it's money well spent!

I added my current stats to my right sidebar. And if you want to learn more about geocashing, visit this site.

In other news…
I had my worst night of no sleep yet on Wednesday night. I could not lie down for more than 10 seconds without having to move. My legs were bothering me to no end. Christina and I had a late supper at BW3's and I had two full glasses of coke while we were there, so we attribute that to the problem. For the last few months I do my best to only drink caffeine free coke in the evenings. I tried everything to get my legs repressed, including jogging two laps around the block, but to no avail. I FINALLY fell asleep abo9ut 4:30 in the morning, just to have my alarm clock go off at 5:30 to get ready for work. Needless to say I was dragging yesterday.

Then after I got home from work yesterday, I took my glasses off, and the piece that goes down the side of your face broke right off. Fortunately I kept my old pair of glasses for such an occasion. And fortunately my frames are still under warranty. Unfortunately those frames have been discontinued, but fortunately the eye Dr.'s are giving me new frames. That I will take care of next week.

Also, we are leaving for camping tonight directly after work. So when we do that, we try to pack up the truck the night before. Last night Shawn came over to help pack and I was carrying some stuff that was in the bed of the truck out to the garage, and on my way back, my right knee came disjoined sent me falling to the ground in extreme pain. Last night I had my knee brace on, and I was limping, but I could walk relatively OK. This morning, it barely hurt at all, but I am keeping off of it because I want to be able to do some hiking tomorrow. Normally, I can tell when my knee is becoming loose, so I will put on my knee brace to prevent it from disjointing. But sometimes, like this time, it catches me by surprise.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

All work and no sleep..

makes Brent tired and cranky....

So for about the last week, I have been working a fireworks stand the father-in-law has been managing. I have worked every day since the 30th. On the weekdays, i leave work, drive an hour there, and work until 10, then drove about 40 minutes home. Go to bed, get up at 5:30 for work, go to work, then then back to the fireworks stand. You would think that with all this work, and lacking the sleep I usually get, that taking a 45 or an hour nap at lunch time wouldn;t affect my ability to sleep at night. But NOOOOOOOO. As some of you may recall, my body seems to have the inability to sleep like a normal person. It's hard for me to fall asleep, but once I'm there, I'm out. Well the last few nights after I took an hour nap at lunch, I jsut lay in bed, staring at the ceiling to about 1 in the morning. Last night I ended up laying on the couch. The longer I lay there without sleeping, the more restless I get. So in an attempt to keep from waking Christina, I went to the couch and tossed and turned there.

The last time I looked atr the clock, it was 1AM. The I woke up at 3:40, and crawled back into bed, to get up less than an hour and a half later.

Ugh.

Oh well, the money isn't bad. And the employee discount on the foreworks is great. Basically this temporary job is funding my fireworks obsession this year. So that's a plus.
