Biker Fun

Biker Fun

This last weekend we leaded up the bikes and went downstate south of Indianapolis to hang out with some friend and do the annual Brown County Ride. About 17 bikes showed up, which was almost perfect, as we all could ride in one group and pretty much stay together. Faster people were up front, and slower people were in the back. We ran some prettty twisty roads that I dodn't know Indiana was capable of having! It was perfect riding weather too; sunny, not hot and not cold. Sunday came too fast as we loaded the bikes up and went home.

The Price of Candy

The Price of Candy

I do my best to avoid using the vending machines here at work in the break room. Mainly because I try not to eat alot, and it helps save money. I haven't used them for a few months, until today. I jsut needed some wake up juice (Coke) and some chocolate (Butterfinger). I looked at the candy machine and decided on my choice, then I noticed it. The price of the candy bars went up to 75 cents! When did this happen? Did that happen everywhere, or just here with this company? I don't normally buy canybars outside of work either, so I don't know if prices went up all around, or just here. Either way, I walked away without a candy bar.

Overflowin

Overflowin

So funny story about saturday:
Saturday I was workign in the yard and also working on setting up our pool. My friend Josh comes over and informes me he jsut cut through two pieces of radiant tubing in is house, and wants to know if I can come over and fix it. It was perfect timing, as I had just set the hose into the pool. Now this thing takes like 4 hours to fill., so I left and did that, and then went out to eat with some friends. Christina had left in the meatime to go to a Partylight thing at my sisters house. After dinner, my friend Shawn, his uncle, and I went catfishing about a hour south of us. I checked the pool before I left, and it was only about half full. I called Christina and asked her to shut off the hose when she got home. Well we got back from catfishing about 4AM. They dropped me off and I went straight into the house and passed out. At 9AM, I get woken up by Christina, "Did you shut off the hose to the pool?" To which I very sleeply reply "No, I asked you to do it." And then I passed out again. When I woke up at 9:30, I found out that she had turned off the pool when she woke me earlier. Apparently it was raining really hard when she got home from my sisters house. All that she could think of was to run into the house and not get wet, completely forgetting about the pool. I guess she had woken up at like 5AM realizing that she never shut it off. She looked outside, and it wasn't overflowing, so she assumed I did it. Well this is one of those pools with the blow up ring, when water starts flowing over the top of the pool, the side will collapse until the ring can pop up again. Usually about 1/4 to 1/3 of the water gets out. Apparently this had been doing that all night!! When she looked at it at 5AM the water had jsut apparently emptied, so it looked fine!

Good News

Good News

Well, last night the weatherman said to expect it to be cooler than normal this weekend. Which isn't ideal, but much better than hot and humid.

Also, have not driven my truck since last week Wednesday I think, which has saved me alot on gas milage. I have ridden about 420 miles (on average) on the bike in since thursday, and only used about $15 in gas. Compared to the $90 the truck would have cost me for the same distance!

6/6/6

6/6/6

The weather the last four days has been absolutely gorgeous! It's been mid 70's with very low humidity. The weekend before last last was a scorcher! Laura had mentioned that she would send me her weather, and she apparently did. It was high 90's with VERY high humidity. You could even jsut stand outside without sweating. I love the weather how it is right now, and wish it wouldn't change. But alas, all good things must come to an end! The weatherman said on the new last night that we are to expect higher temperature and lots of humidity this weekend.....

Go-Kart Mania

Go-Kart Mania

We have a Salary Club at work, where every couple months we do some fun event. This Month it was Zao Island, mini-golf, go-karts, video games, etc. Our treat was all you can ride can ride go-karts and bumper cars, and all you can play mini-golf for four hours. It was a blast, right until the very end, then it was better.

We are on our last ride on the go-karts. The kid running it said that if you have a blue wristband, then this would be your last ride. So we're out on the track haviong a good 'ol time. Me and this guy Chris from my work were dueling it out the whole time. (BTW, Chris was kicked off the track once, but he bribed the guy with $10 to let him ride again). So the buzzer start ging off right after Chris and I pass the pit lane, so we have an entire track to go through yet. We get about halfway through, and there is a pileup on one of the hairpin turns, and we end up getting caught in it. Literally, about half the cars out on the track are caught in this thing. So they get everybody loose, and I am jammed against the wall with Chris pinned in the side of me. We,, i keep hitting the gas, but the cars not doing anything. Therefore Chris can't go anywhere either. Well the guy comes over to us trying to figure out what's going on, and realizes that the car must have been elecronically stalled. So he calls over to the guy in the pitts, and you see that guy get out a remove thing, point it at my car, and it starts running again.

Now everybody is already in the pitts. They are all waiting for us to return so they can get out of the cars. Therefor they are ALL watching us. Including the guys running it. Well I am still ahead of Chris as we enter the long backstreatch. I can hear Chris screaming something, but I don't know what it is. Well I look behind me, see that he is about 10 feet behind me, and I line myself up with his car. The rest of the story comes from my friend Scott, as I think I blacked out...."I knew you were going to do something when I say you sit straight up, leaned your head back on the headrest, and placed your hand on top of the steering wheel. Suddenly you could hear the squeeling of tires and see the smoke comming off the track. Chris didn't have enough time to react, he hit you at full speed. The rear end of his car came up about 8 inches off the ground. His head with right into the steering wheel. And then you just drove off."
