Camping is Fun
Camping is Fun
This weekend Christina and I spent the weekend camping with friends (the usual Shawn and Matt, as well as my friend from Lafayette Scott and his wife Sara) at Raccoon Lake. It was a quickly planned trip, as we started planning it less than two weeks ago. The weather was nice, not to hot in the afternoons, and not too cold in the evenings. Matt and I took our bows, since they have an archery range there. So the guys took some time to shoot a few arrows, and amazingly we didn't lose any! We also did a little fishing, although we caught nothing. And we did a bit of hiking as well. It was an easy relaxing trip overall!
Apparently they had gotten a lot of rain in the last few weeks, as the water level seemed to be a bit high. Some of the hiking trails were inaccessible, as they went underwater, so we had to make out own paths. There were docks underwater, and even picnic tables and grills were a bit off the shoreline in the water, that was pretty funny to see.

Eternal darkness
Eternal darkness
The dark has not been my friend lately.
Yesterday, I had an appraisal at a vacant house. The owner already moved out, and was selling it. There was no electricity in the house. No problem, done this a hundred times. Well, turns out I forgot my flashlight at home. So I was using my lighter that I unknowingly grabbed when I was getting ready yesterday morning. Now the entire basement wasn't dark, this was a bi-level, so there were some windows. But I was wandering around in the back hallway, and found the laundry room. In there I was looking for the breaker box, which I located on the back wall. So I started walking closer, I took my last step to the breaker box, but my foot didn’t land on the floor. In fact, my foot didn't land on anything. Next thing I realized I was hurdling in a downwards direction, I was falling into a hole, a hole I never saw. My head suddenly hit the concrete wall, my right knee smashed upon the concrete floor. My left leg landed in at least a foot and a half of water. I had fallen, haphazardly, into the sump pit. Oh, I can’t tell you how pissed I was! But I can tell I was scared out of my mind as I was falling. To take a step and have nothing below it, not being able to see anything from the darkness, and not knowing what you're falling into! Definitely not a good feeling!
And then, last night as we were sitting at home, our electricity went out, for no apparent reason, as the severe thunderstorms had already passed through a good half hour before. Well of course that reset all the alarm clocks. So before I went to bed, I reset the alarm clock, and triple checked that I had not switched up the AM and PM, and that the alarm was set for the correct time. This morning the alarm went off, and I felt amazingly refreshed. Double-checked the time on the alarm clock, nope, it's 6:35; I'm good. So I did the usual morning routine. Noticed that I had gotten ready in good time, and I was going to be early for work! I go out to the truck, start it up, and pull out of the driveway. I looked down at the radio, 7:05!!!! Well, that explains why I felt so refreshed! I set my clock an hour late! So I immediately called my boss and told him I was late (he figured that one out already).

What Happened to Spring?
What Happened to Spring?
Seriously! Last week, Monday and Tuesday was AWSOME! I rode the bike both days, a bit chilly in the morning, but great in the afternoon. I rode Wednesday, even with the 50% chance of rain. I didn't get hit by rain, but it never got above 50 degrees. In fact, I don't think it's been above 50 degrees since, or at least above 60! And the rain! It's rained every day since Wednesday! It's like we live in Seattle or something! Today though, it looks as if we might get a break for the day. Too bad the high is about 57. Ugh. I want spring back.

MP3 Rage
MP3 Rage
Sunday Christina and I went out an bought MP3 players. We got these little Sony things that kinda look like USB drives. It's actually pretty neat, and it's handy for the bike. The FF and RW aren't buttons but a dial on the end. Easy to grip with the motorcycle gloves on. This is the main reason I got mine. Although I've used it for everything from mowing the lawn to hooking it up to my work computer (like right now).
After playing with it, and learning what all id does and how it works, I am loving it. Christina isn't too sure if she wants to keep hers, or take it back and get an iPod Mini.

Washers
Washers
Washers are great.
Washers are made to clean your clothes.
Washers do it without any help.
Washers are completely automatic, you (stolen from Ronco) "set it and forget it."
Washers never break before you wash or after the rinse cycle.
Washers always break full of soapy water and dirty clothes.
Washers require a repairmen to fix them.
Washers suck.

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

A Cinco de Mayo idea
A Cinco de Mayo idea
This was posted on the motorcycle forum I visit:
"I propose that Cinco de Mayo (May 5th for those of you not on the frontline of the invasion) be national "Turn in an Illegal Immigrant Day!"
The Illegal had their day, let's have ours."
I agree!

The Pro's of removing illegal immigrants
The Pro's of removing illegal immigrants
Let's see, although it hasn't affected mee personally today, because I live in a small community where they are pretty much only seen doing lawn care, it seems that removing illegal immigrants from daily life has made things better across the country. The only con that I have seen is where the dumbasses are actually protesting. Visiting many web forums today, peopel have been exclaiming how much easier it was to drive to work today. No immigrants blocking the roadways. This has been mentioned more than anything else I have seen. One place (accoring to a guy on Cycleforums) where immigrants work, have hired a bunch of Americans' who where looking for jobs, since the immigrants refused to show up, and therefore have been fired. Which they will find out tomorrow when they return to work. Another big plus? Teenager can start mowing lawns for money again! Like I used to when I was a kid.
I personally think their plan is backfiring. It seems that this place is much better without illegal immigrants to muck it all up!
NOTE: I am not protesting immigration! Just the illegal bastards who think they have a right to sneak into this county and live off our hardworked wages, and not pay out taxes, and then bitch about the government.
