No School
I had always wondered what life was going to be like when i was out of school for good. I have ebnver gone a full year and not been in school since I started preschool some twenty odd years ago. As my last semester of college was comming to an end, I always got the question "What are you going to do with all your free time when you are out of school?" "Relax!" I would exclaim, "Enjoy the time I have to do nothing." It's been over three months since I last stepped foot into a classroom, and I have yet to find this "free time." In fact, I am busier now than I was in school! it seems like my list of things to do is never ending. I actually have to force myself to take a day here and there and relax. Then I begin to feel bad nothing is getting done. I usualyl end up getting up and doing something.....
"But it's still summertime!" you say. I should be doing things while the weather is nice! Bu the fact of the matter is, I have a whole different list of things to do in the winter, that as well will incorporate all my time. No rest for the weary i suppose.....

Realistic Dreams
So I wake uip to my alarm going off this morning at 5AM. I get up and reset it for 5:30 as I always do, and crawl back in bed. At 6:30 Christina wakes me up, informing me of the time. I'm mad, get up and press the alarm button on the clock, and it's set for 5AM. My dreams are becomming my reality I think....

Weekend
Talk abotu a busy weekend. Currently powdercoading my bike, whcih is what I have been working on in the evenings almost all last week. Was up with a friend until 3AM friday night working on it, getting all the stuff powdercoated. Finished everything but one piece.
Then woke up at 8:30AM saturday morning and started getting everything ready for our Labor Day party. We had it a week early because we'll be in North Carolina this year for Labor Day. Worked getting the yard set up until about 3 in the afternoon. got showered, changed, and went to a Motley Crue concert with a group of my friends. That was a good show. We got caught in traffic and missed two of the opening bands, Silvertide and someone else I didn't recognize. But we got to see Sum 41. Then the Crue came out and just rocked the place to death. It was an awsome show. Got home about 12:30 and passed out.
Woke up sunday morning abotu 9ish and finished setting up for the party. People started showing up about 2. We had alot of unexpected people show up, and lot of people who said they were comming who didn't. It was good time. At midnight the few people who were still there helped pack things up before they left. Got to bed about 12:30 last night.

OK, so August is supposed to be the hottest month of the year. Except this year, it's not. I want it to be hot again before it get's cold! Gah!
So there's alot going on in the next couple of weeks. This comming sunday we are having our "Weekend Before Labor Day Party" and next wednesday night we are leaving for North Carolina for about a week. I have so much to do to get ready for both these things, that I don't think I have time for either!

Down
So yesterday, I am riding home from Wanatah where I just finished up an appraisal. I was on Calumet Ave. making a left hand turn onto Harrison Blvd (the street I live on). In the middle of the turn, I felt my handlebars and my tire buckle towards me, and next thing I know I am laying on the ground, and I hear my bike scraping the ground. A couple of guys that were sitting at the stop sign ran out to help me up and make sure I was alright. The guy in the oncomming lanes (who had been quite aways away yet) turned his car to block the oncomming traffic (it's a 4 lane road). One lady from the house down the street comes running out "I saw it! I saw everything! I saw that guy hit you! I'm a witness!!" I looked over at the car she was pointing at, which was still sitting at the stop sign, I looked at the guy who was driving it, who had just helped me up. Now his car was still a good 5 feet from me (and that's after the sliding on the ground part), he never left the stop sign. I looked at the lady and said "He didn't hit me, I just fell. Look, his car is still way over there!" "OH" she says. Yeah, saw everything huh? Get my bike up and realize I broke the shifter off. So I shift it to first by hand, and drive the remaining 5 blocks home in first gear.
The cause of the accident? I think I was going too slow! Seriously, why else would my front tire buckle up underneith me? I wasn't going fast at all. And there were at least 20 people around, so I was not only pissed off, but highly embarassed.
Not much damage to the bike: frame slider, a little cover thing (I don't know what it's called), the shifter, which I think broke off on my foot, and the left side bolt that holds my rear tire on. Hell, handlebars never even hit the ground, and the mirror never moved! Not much damage to me either. A few indications of road rash, but hardly broken skin. Just part of the top of my foot is scraped where I thing the shifter broke on it.
So what is that metal cover that I scraped all up? Anyone know? I'd like to order a new one, need to know what it's called.

Fine Fish
I have gotten a slew of emails pertaining to the fish invloved in the Fishy Incident. I apologize that I didn't write about them!
The fish are fine, my Clown, Goby, and Shimp are very well and alive.
I think I may have lost a snail or two, and my crabs are still wandering around.
I can't say the same for all the corals though. A couple of them have opened back up, but the pulsing zena, green star polyps, and leather finger are slumped over and haven't done much. They may have survived, you've got to give them time. I will keep you updated!

Fishy Floor
When leaving for work yesterday morning, I walked in the living room right in front of the 10 gallon saltwater tank. And I did, i heard a splash, and my foot got all wet. I looked down and you could see water in all the carpet. I'm surprised Christina wasn't woken up from my cussing. Turns out the filter got clogged and was overflowing. I spent 3 hours using the neighbors wet/dry shop vac, vaccuming almost 3.5 gallons of water from the carpet. And it is still wet. And then spent the rest of the evening cleaning the fish tanks and filter. Wasn't much fun.

49er
Sat night, Christina and I went to the drive in movie. I try to go at least once a year, I'd like to go more, but weather, time, and what's playing all has to agree. Saturday night was perfect; mid 70's for the low, low humidity, and the movies playing: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Dukes of Hazzard.
So you understand how popular this theater is, the gates open at 7, we got there at 6:15 and the line was already out on the highway, as you'll see in the pictures below. This is the only drive in in the northern half of the state I believe. People come from all over just to see a movie here. When we got in, we still only made it to the second row. Which was pretty good. We turned the truck facing away from the screen, placed fold out chairs in the back of the bed, and opened the rear window and cranked the stereo.
Oh, and these pics were taken with my camera phone.

Matt's Apartment
My friend Matt is moving into a new apartment this week down at school. He's been telling me all along how hideous it looks. Apparently they painted it weird and waxky colors. He made a little write up about it, and I am here to share the horror with you. Make sure you read the captions, and please right click and save as....

Shorter
I woke up to my first alarm the other morning and noticed it was still dark out. Then I thougth about it, and realized that summer is almost over. Less than a month until Labor Day. That sucks. It seems like winter always lasts much longer then summer. I like summer better.
Time is going by so fast, it's unreal. And I still rarely find myself just sitting at home and relaxing.

Blah
Lately I've read other people's blogs where they are commenting out their blog designs and skins. I realize that people half my age are 5 times more creative than me. Not that it's a big deal, but I go from their pages to mine, and it's like Blah.
Christina and I went to the first of 4 weddings we will be attending this year on saturday. A long time friend of mine. It was a good time, except there was like 3.5 hours between the wedding and reception, and we were not natives to the town we were in. We drove arounf for 2.5 hours before we actually found a mall, and it was in the next town over. We had enough time to go in for a snack, and leave. Make a note to yourself: It may be your wedding day, but think of the other people too. Christina and I wondered why people have suck long gaps. The few weddings I've been in, we went to a local park to take pictures, but it didn't take anywhere near 3 hours. We did drive around alot though. It was a good day non-the-less. Had a great time at the reception too.
