SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!!

So it started snowing sat at about 4PM. It didn't stop until almost midnight last night. It was cool, you gotta love that Lake Effect Snow! Friday we went to see Ocean's 12, and ate at Don Pablos with Tony and Lindsey. Sat, Christina and I went to the Museum of Science & Industry, mainly for their Christmas around the world displays. That was alot of fun, I haven't been there in quite a few years. We watched the Omnimax film Forces of Nature. Gotta love that 72' dome screen! On Sat night, went out to the bar with some friends, and watched it snow. We talked about how in the old days (being 5 years ago) we wouldn't be in a bar, we'd be sitting on the side of a road with a sled and a pickup, waiting for the snow to get deep enough for high speed sledding! At least we'd be doing donuts. On sunday, we were supposed to go with my parents to Elkhart for my cousins birthday. My dad called the Toll Road and asked how they where:
Toll Road Guy: "Well we can't keep up with it!"
My dad: "Snow's falling faster than you can plow?"
Toll Road Guy: "No people are going into ditches faster then we can pull them out! There's idiots in the ditches everywhere!"
Yes he did actually say "idiots in the ditches everywhere."
So Christina and I went to the Viking Chili Bowl for breakfast. It was so dead they decided to close at noon. Then we went to Wal-Mart for some misc. stuff. And we then picked up my friend Matt. Mind you there was about 8 inches of snow on the roads everywhere we went. Rt. 30 was blocked off by Wal-Mart, so we took a short cut around the graveyard, where you couldn't really see teh road. A semi got stuck halfway up the hill on downtown Lincolnway, and had that whole road blocked off. (for those not from this area, Rt. 30 is the major 4 lane highway that runs throuhg town, and Lincolnway is the major road thro old downtown/business district) Matt's car got snowed in, and he wasn't going anywhere unless we picked him up. In doing so, we also stole his snowblower. We did my driveway (which took about 2 hours) and his brothers. By the time we got back to my house, there was already almost an inch of snow covering what we did. Then we went out and helped a friends brother and dad remove snow from all the rental properties. Of course getting paid for it. Got home about midnight, and came into work this morning. Michigan City ended up with about 22 inches of snow total. Stupid people at work only plowed half the parking lot, so half the work force i parked on the main road in. Blocking traffic for semi's. Oh well.

Foamy's Christmas Rant

Remember a few weeks ago when I wrote THIS rant about stupid people and Christmas? Well I am not the only one who feels this way! Foamy has a bit to agree with me as well. I love this squirrel!

Dentist

How pathetic is this? I'm writing about the dentist, again.
Second wisdom tooth removed within a month and a half. I'm really glad these things don't hurt me. My original bottle of vicodin is still full from my root canal two months ago. Oh well. Have a great weekend!

Weekend Roundup

So let's see, not a whole lot has happened. I have been studying for Chemestry, alot. Friday went to the bar to celebrate a friends birthday. Got to see a BUNCH of peoople I havent' seen in ages. One, whom I hadn't talked to in almost 7 years we figure. That was pretty fun. Sat we did some more Christmas shopping, and picked up Christina's curio cabnet, and set it up in the house. Yesterday was a day full of nothingness. We watched all three Lord of the Rings movies. I have been wanting to see them lately, all in a row. Apparently so has she. Bu thankfully they weren't the extended versions. Christina bought each movie as it came out in the store. The unfortunate part, she didn't pay real careful attention, as the first two movies are in widescreen, and the last one is in fullscreen. I think all movies should come with widescreen and fullscreen on one disk. This way, people who like widescreen (me) can watch any movie they buy in widescreen. And others who like fullscreen (Christina) can watch whatever they want in fullscreen.

More Ranting

OK, I feel like ranting, but I'll do it a little farther down.
Yesterday I gave my final speech for speech class. It had to be a persuasive speech, so I decided to do it on Radiant Heat. Well the problem with that was to take what I could easily turn into a 45 minute bore-a-thon, and make it 5-6 minutes. So I took the best points and ran with it. I was very passonate, and very clear, and very specific. And I made it so the average person knew exactly what I was talking about when I was done. I was very proud of it, because it was over a product I was passonate about. And I had reason to be proud, my professor gave me a 100% om my speech!

OK, rant time now:

Yesterday there was a fire in a high-rise in Chicago. And forbid people who have Chicago TV stations could get away from it. That was all you saw last night, from 7 until I went to bed at 10. I was pissed, I wanted to watch my TV shows, but NOOOOOOO!!! It started out as a small fire in a couple of rooms, then a few hours later it was huge and jumped to an upper floor. Great Job there guys!

You know what they were talking about on the news? "Well as this fire burns, smoke fills the building and makes it hard to see." "Well, so&so (I forget the reportes names) does that make it hard to breathe too?" "Yes so&so,(woman reporter in the studio) the heavy smoke does make it very difficult to breathe." DUH!

I am serious, this is what the conversation was like! Is that really news worth to interupts thousands of viewers tv with? No! Give us updates on every half hour or something like FOX was doing. But don't spend the entire night saying "I think they are trying to spray water on the fire through this window" (as a stream of water is being sprayed into the window). Dead serious, this was what I had to watch on CBS instead of CSI: Miami and Two and a Half men. I was SOOOO pissed last night. I only watch TV a couple nights a week, and I don;t like them to be interupted. It's like my time to relax. Stupid news companies. I wrote a letter of complaint, but never heard anything back.

Stupid People Ruin Holidays

I heard on the radio this weekend about how people who don't celebrate Christmas like to ruin it for everyone else. Ever notice how the big store no longer have "Merry Christmas" signs, but rather have "Happy Holidays," or even more politically correct, "Season's Greetings?" This is because people who don't celebrate Christmas have to ruin it for the rest of us by complaining, threatening, or suing these large companys for not catering to their needs!

The radio specified that there was a school in I think New Jersey, where they were having their "Fall Festival" (named that because the normal "Christmas Program" wasn't P.C. to those who didn't celebrate Christmas. During this festival, they avoided singing all songs that had anything to do with Christmas, or the hint of Christmas. But during the intermission, they had a tape of instrumental music playing, and one of the songs that came on was Silent Night. One lady was apparently so outrages that they played this song (because she doesn't celebrate Christmas) that they ended up shutting down the rest of the "Fall Festival." Whether that is true or not, I don't know, but with how anally P.C. people are getting, it's not too far fetched to be true. But this made me look around this weekend to see, and not a single large department store had anything that said "Merry Christmas," it was all "Season's Greeting's." that's B.S.! What about MY needs. Now I am the one who is being diciplined because someone else doesn't even like to see "Merry Christmas" on anything out in public! Christina was looking at Christmas Cards onlinr for her company to send out this year. She didn't see ANY at this one store that said "Merry Christmas." She calls them, and the lady who answered the phone says: "Well they don't sell any cards that say 'Merry Christmas' because they are being correct and not offending people like me who don't celebrate Christmas." If I was on that phone I woulda just screamed at her! Why are people like her so special that they get so offended by the rest of us celebrating our holiday. If you don't like it, cool, don't like it. But don't force the rest of to not celebrate it because YOU don't like it! And another thing, Christina got this Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Classics thingy DVD or something like that. It has alot of the older Mickey Mouse cartoons on it. Well, before most of them there is some guy giving a commentary. And on alot of them, during this commentary, he goes on about how they could never nationally show this cartoon again because it's not politically correct because one charater has a "heavy Italian accent," or "drunkenness is not funny," or "make a generalization about another race." I'm serious here, and he says thesee are not P.C. because how "society has evolved since these cartoons were made." Evolved? EVOLVED?! This society has NOT evolved! In terms of offensiveness, it has retracted back to the whiney baby years! Where EVERYONE sues over nothing just to make a buck, becuase they were offended that the guy on the cartoon has a heavy Italian accent!

I hope all these P.C. idiots die, they are ruining society for the rest of us. cartoons are jokes, if you don't like it, don't watch it! Some people celebrate Christmas, so let it celebrate! Why change thousands of years of tradition because YOU don't like it! You can just F off!

Sales

I like sales. Except when they are at expensive stores, then it's like I am shopping at the average stores. Which is OK, because if it wasn't for sales, I wouldn't shop the expensive stores (I'm a cheap bastard). After I got out of class last night (freaking 9PM) Christina and I went to Kohls for their one day only 50% off sale. I don't shop Kohls, too expensive. But like I said, 50% off. I got a few things, about $100 worth, so I guess I saved about $200. Works for me. I needed some new work clothes. I have to give a speech monday. That sucks. I'm not quite prepared for it yet. I don't know yet if I have to use an overhard, or if I get to use a projecter and do powerpoint. Hopefully the professor will e-mail me today, and let me know.
