Christmas is among us
Of all the snow we got wednesday, there is none left. It rained all day sat and most of the day friday. Melted it all away. It's OK, I made my money. Friday we went and did a little shopping at the mall, and strip malls. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Christina bought one of my presents, but I am supposed to forget about it until Christmas. The last couple of nights have been fun, hanging with all of my friends that usually are out of town but came back for the holidays. As well as others that I just haven't seen in awhile. And some that I expected to hear from didn't call. Last night we decided that we are all getting too old. None of us wanted to go out, because we are all broke. We all sat around and yawned and talked about being tired. And the highlight of our day was watching one friends 2 year old daughter run amock in my house.
Today we spent the day putting up Christmas lights. We got fed up with trying to figure out exactly which bulb was out, causing the whole string to be dead. So any string that had a bad section, we threw away, and bought a new ones to replace it. We also added colored spotlights to the house, as well as candy cane lights along the sidewalk. :D

Thanks, Full
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
So wednesday it decided to start snowing right after lunch. The first snowfall of the year is supposed to be all nice, with light and fluffy snow, a nice sunny day, and descent weather. But no, not here. We have to have freezing cold with 30 mph winds, and snow mixed with rain!

You can't see it, but it was actually comming down sideways, and it WAS nasty. And of course, no one could drive it it! Everybody had to go 20 MPH on the highways! I was just passing people left and right. In 2WD even! Stupid people. Then I got back into Valpo. And if you think you've been around stupid people driving, you ain't been to Valpo! NO ONE can drive here. Except me. So about an hour and a half after the above photo, the weather looks like this:

Mind you it's only 3PM in that picture. Still nasty, but the rains gone. Blowing like crap though. Work, Wal-Mart, Menards, and home all had lost power at some point while I was at each one running my errands. I did find out that I can do really good 4WD drifts in the truck. Although that doesn't make me feel any better about driving it on the roads....
Well all this complaining, and for what? Nothing really, in fact, it helped me out last night. A friend comes over and asks if I wanna make some extra cash shoveling snow. Of course I want the cash. So 5 hours later (1:30 AM) the 4 of us get done shoveling 30 some houses. Ouch, pain. I can't even move at this point.
So that brings us to today. Yes, i successfully deep fried my first ever turkey! And it was wonderful. So juicy and moist. Christina and I had a nice little thanksgiving feast. Haven't done anything else all day though. I am quite stuffed.

Boring
My life is boring. I shouldn't even have a blog. Nothing ever to say! Not to mention I know of ONE person who reads this on a consistant basis. I think the other 14 people who come here each week are accidental.
My friend Matt returned from Florida yesterday. He's been there for 4 months for school. I worked 21.5 hours of overtime this last weekend. Hurray for Christmas money! This year my family isn't having thankgiving (on my moms side). We always go to my aunts for a feast. My parents left yesterday to visit my dads parents in Arkansas, my aunt (who holds the feast) is not well, my grandma is not well, and my sister is pregnant. So Christina and I are going to have thanksgiving by ourselves, and I am going to attempt to deep fry a turkey. I'll let you know how that goes. Let's pray I don't burn the place down.

Pain
These last few days have been extremely painful for me, literally. I woke up sunday morning with a sharp pain in my lower back. I tried to do stuff around the house, but I just couldn't. Every step, and every bend brought a sharp pain up my back. I spent pretty much the whole day laying on the couch. I went to the chiropractor monday, and he said my back was way out of alignment. We moved my back in ways I didn't know it could move, and told me to take it easy for a couple days, and I should be fine. I tried to lay down monday night, but to no avail. Tuesday I was still in pain, but less it seemed. Tuesday night, I did nothing, jsut layed on the couch, hardly moving. That seemed to help alot. When I woke up this morning, almost no pain, but it is still there. I just need to take it easy. We are doing inventory here at work on friday through monday, so I'll be on my feet for 10 hours a day. I need to be better by then.

Uneventful
So this weekend, Christina took off with all the women in my family for that Estrogen overload Weekend. That is when all the women get together and spend and entire weekend shopping for Christmas, as well as pamper themselves with hot tubs and margaritas. So I ahve the weekend to myself, to do guy stuff, stay out late, bar hopping, etc, and not have to worry about leaving Christina at home. Well it just so happens that pretty much NONE of my friends were available, or home. Actualy, I was planning on bar hopping with my drinking buddy Lisa, except she left the state for the weekend, so that pretty much blew what I wanted to do out of the water. Last night I hung with my friend Mark and his wife. We ent to dinner, and then went back to their house and talked fish. He has a total room dedicated to fresh and saltwater fish. I happen to have a tank of both myself. We weren't out too late, in fact I was home alone by 12. Today i worked a little at the apprasial office, and then decided I was going to surprise Christina. I went to the pet store and bought 2 True Percula Clow Fishes, and 1 Yellow Watchman Goby for our ten gallon saltwater tank. Prior to this, ass that was in there was corals. So we'll see how long it takes for her to notice. ;-) I got ahold of my friend Russ tonight, and he was supposed to call me back after his wife and kids got home, to let me know what was going on, if anything. That was at 8. It's now 1:30, and I have not heard from him. Oh well, I entertained myself with The Matrix Revolutions, beer, and a bowl of Golden Grahams (not necessarily in that order). I was hoping for a much more exciting weekend. Oh well, it happens.

Update
It's really a coincidence that I wrote that other post earlier this morning. Because right before lunch, our whole dept, was called into a meeting and informed our jobs were secure, for now. 26 people in the company weren't so lucky. They were informed first thing this morning, that in June, their positions were being eliminated.

Reality Dream
As I walk through the corridors at work, I feel like I am in a whole new company. Many people that I have meet over the last 6 years are gone, either forced or by their own accord. Many offices sit empty, possibly never to be filled again, and many others have names that are unfamiliar to me. I now know a total of one person in the purchasing department, nobody in human resources, and maybe half of the customer serverice reps. Our parent company has done a great job of weeding people out, and bringing this company down. Most people still come to work, wonding if they'll have a job at the end of the day. I've moved past this phase, become numb to it. Tension is getting thicker as the end of the quarter approaches. 150 people know they are losing thier jobs sometime in the first half of next year, but don't know when exactly that day is. How terrible is that? Having to stand there and work, knowing no matter what you do, you can't save your job. Inventory is comming up in a couple of weeks, and has become the subject matter. How well are these 150 workers going to perform? They receive no benefits from it, and they won't be around to find out what the concequences of their possible actions may be. And frankly, I know, they don't care.

Long Weekend
I'd like to call it a long weekend, although it really wasn't. I worked until 2 on friday at job #2. But it seemed more like fun than work, because I don't do it often. Got a wisdom tooth pulled at 3 on friday, which literally took the dentist all of 5 seconds. I have not had any pain from this procedure at all, which I am not complaining about! I worked again all day saturay at job #2, and sunday was family time at my cousins birthday. I stayed up late last night practicing my speech for tonights speech class. I am so not ready for this. I didn't start today out well, by waking up an hour late. So wish me luck!

Tomorrow
So tomorrow I am taking the day off from job #1 and working at job #2. Of course this isn;t my real reason for taking off from Job #1. The real reason is that I am getting a wisdom tooth pulled mid afternoon. Such fun. Definately not looking forward to it.
On the other hand, I made some killer burritos tonight. Topped them off with some hot sauce and creole seasoning for that extra kick. Unfortunately, that extra kick has been kicking back for the last hour or so......

Cooking
Is there anything like like making a good marinade out of your favorite alocholic beverage and favorite spice? Last night I made a marinade with Jack Daniels Wiskey, garlic, and soy sauce. And was it ever good!
